Groundcovers

Groundcover is a plant that grows over an area of ground and is used to add aesthetic appeal to the area. As the name implies, the plant is supposed to cover the ground and provide protection from erosion and drought. Often, groundcovers are the layer of vegetation below all the shrubbery. Grasses, of varying types, are the most common groundcovers. However, there are a number of different types of groundcovers. These plants can also be used to fill awkward spaces in your landscaping and to fight off weeds. Replacing high maintenance lawns with a variety of groundcovers has become commonplace in some climates.
