Topiary

Topiary is a horticultural practice of clipping the foliage and twigs of live perennial plants to create and maintain a number of different shapes. The practice dates back to ancient times with findings that the Romans partook in the art. Topiary is an art form that is a type of living sculpture. Typically, only a certain type of plant is used in topiary. These types of plants are evergreen and often woody. They have small leaves or needles and produce very dense foliage. Occasionally shown in pop culture, topiary has been popular with nobility for centuries.
